The Ministry of Commerce Inspection Teams Carried out 20.000 Inspection Tours to Monitor the Commitment of the Commercial Establishments with the Precautionary & Preventive Measures to Confront Covid-19 Pandemic, 1,144 Violations Detected

MC control and inspection teams continued to carry out inspection field tours on commercial establishments in all regions of the Kingdom to follow up the commitment of such Est. with the precautionary & preventive measures to confront Covid-19 Pandemic. This is to ensure the safety of consumers.

MC inspection teams have carried out 19,768 inspection tours during the period (October 13 to November 17) targeting markets, shopping centers and shops. 1,144 violations have been detected, relevant to non-compliance with the precautionary & preventive measures. Therefore, legal penalties were imposed according to the regulations relevant to the precautionary measures for confronting Covid-19.

The Ministry of Commerce stresses that all shops, stores and shopping centers should adhere and implement the health requirements, which stipulate preventing the entry of those who don’t wear the masks or whatever covers the nose and mouth, also adhering to social distances, besides providing disinfectants and sterilizers in the necessary places, as well as measuring the temperature of employees and customers at the entrances of the malls and commercial centers, in addition to disinfecting shopping trolleys and baskets after each use, and disinfecting all facilities and surfaces.
 
According to the regulations of violating the precautionary and preventive measures of Covid-19, failure to comply with such precautionary and preventive measures by the commercial establishments requires imposing a fine of 10,000 riyals, and the penalty will be doubled in case of repeating the violation, with the closure of the violating facility.

A fine of 5,000 riyals is also to be imposed on each person when there is a gathering of shoppers or workers inside or outside the commercial store, in excess of the numbers stipulated in the regulations of precautionary and preventive measures.
