The Ministry of Commerce Captures Illegal Labors Involved in Goldsmithing in a House in Jeddah, 5 kilos of Gold Seized

​​​After carrying out the necessary monitoring and investigation, MC inspection teams were able to capture nine illegal labors of Arab and Asian nationalities, running an unlicensed workshop for goldsmithing in a villa at Al-Baghdadiya district in Jeddah. 


In coordination and cooperation with the security authorities, MC inspection teams find out that the illegal labors were involved in goldsmithing and work for their own account, besides there is a suspicion of a commercial concealment case, as well as there is a lack of commercial registration or licenses to practice such activity, also the trademark on the gold or a stamp is not available.

The Ministry has seized (5) kilograms of gold artifacts, samples of which were referred for examination in specialized laboratories, and machines used in casting coins and the Saudi Pound were also seized.

The Ministry has shut down the offending workshop, and the illegal labors were referred to the Public Prosecution, which in turn will refer them to the judiciary for taking the legal measures against them in accordance with the Anti-Commercial Concealment Law, as well as the Precious Metals and Gem Stones System.

Meanwhile, MC inspection teams have shut down three violating shops in Jeddah, engaged in the activity of selling gold without a license. Therefore, those in charge were referred to the concerned authorities for taking the legal measures against them.

The Ministry of Commerce confirms following up the activities of all shops and stores, so that to ensure they have got the necessary licenses to practice any trade activities. MC urges all consumers to lodge their complaints and reports against the violating establishments through MC Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, or via the Ministry’s official website.
