The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministers of Commerce and Finance held a joint meeting of the Committee on Commercial Cooperation with the Committee on Financial and Economic Cooperation.
H.E. Dr. Majid Abdullah Al-Qasabi, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Foreign Trade and H.E. Mohammed Al-Jadaan, Minister of Finance took part in the meeting.
The meeting was held virtually under the chairmanship of the Sultanate of Oman, being the chair of the current session, with the participation of H.E. Dr. Nayef Falah M. Al-Hajraf. Secretary General of the Cooperation Council for the Arab States of the Gulf, and H.E. Abdulrahman Ahmed Al-Harbi, as well as ministers of commerce and finance in GCC.
Several of the meeting's agenda items received extensive discussion focusing on the development and progress of Free Trade Agreements (FTAs) among the GCC countries, individual states, and economic blocs.
These negotiations show that the Kingdom and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries recognize the importance of Kingdom's strategic location. The Kingdom and GCC will continue.to enhance the volume of trade with commercial partners and negotiate over the FTAs with targeted countries to fortify economic ties and strategic partnerships.
Several issues pertaining to the advancement of trade, financial, and economic cooperation among the GCC states were discussed. The meeting also highlighted the resolutions issued by the Ministerial Council during its preparatory session (154).
