With the start of the school year just around the corner, the Ministry of Commerce has made 3,084 visits to school supply outlets. The inspectors went to stationery stores and bookstores throughout the Kingdom to ensure that the prices of stationery and school supplies were not excessively jacked up.
Additionally, the inspectors verified that each item's price label matched the one at the cash register and that the stores' inventories of school supplies were accurate and sufficient. They made sure there were no bogus products displayed on the shelves, slapping violators with 27 penalties on the spot.
The Ministry urged all consumers to report any complaint or violation spotted in bookstores and stationery stores via the “Commercial Report” app or at toll-free 1900.
