The Ministry of Commerce has carried out more than 61,000 inspection tours on markets and commercial establishments in all regions of the Kingdom during the period from 1 Shawwal to 6 Dhu al-Qi'dah 1441 AH. This is to ensure the abundance of goods, and to follow up the prices of basic consuming items.
The inspection tours included: hypermarkets, food supplies, wholesale and retail markets, shops of luxuries, outlets for devices and medical supplies, pharmacies, steel, cement and building material stores, petrol stations, and car agencies. The tours resulted in releasing 7,081 instant fines against the violators.
Makkah topped the list of regions in the number of inspection tours by 9,649, followed by Riyadh 9,537, then the Eastern Region 8,795, Al-Qassim 8,704, Medina 4,708, Najran 4,250, Hail 4,000, Al-Jouf 2,686, Jizan 2,476, Asir 1,989, the Northern Borders 1,671, Tabuk 1,591, and finally Al Baha 1,192 tours.
Makkah Al-Mukarramah region topped the list of most regions in the issuance of instant fines with more than 1,796, followed by Riyadh 1,222, then the Eastern Region 972, Medinah 546, Jizan 512, Hail 453, Al-Qassim 418, Asir 347y, Al-Baha 225, Al-Jouf 211, Tabuk 161, Najran 143, the Northern Borders 75.
The Ministry of Commerce calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints and reports on the violating establishments through MC Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, or through the Ministry’s official website.
