The General Meeting of FATF, concluded on Friday 21/6/2019 in Orlando, USA, approved the Kingdom's membership to this Group. Notably, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is the first Arab country to receive this membership.

FATF had already agreed to grant the Kingdom an observer status in the Group in June 2015, taking into consideration the great role played by the Kingdom in the field of combating money laundering, financing terrorism and spreading of armaments.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has got FATF Membership after the Mutual Assessment Process has been completed. This is one of the main requirements for joining this Group, and it had been conducted by FATF during 2017-2018 in cooperation with MENA Financial Action Task Force (MENAFATF) for the Middle East and North Africa. The results show the effective and efficient measures taken by the Kingdom for combating these phenomena. Consequently, the Kingdom has been granted FATF membership.
