H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Investment, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, said that the presence of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council is a platform for joint communication between the two countries to discuss all relevant challenges and to prepare the required visions for the future, as well as to find solutions for different issues through consolidated vision.
H.E. confirmed that the establishment of the said Council lays out the foundation for dealing and cooperation in all fields.
H.E. Dr. Al Qasabi said in a press statement, after the first session of the said council, that the foundation for our fruitful cooperation will be completed in the province of Arar, on the Saudi-Iraqi borders. Actually, there is a study for rapid opening of land roads between the two countries,
to facilitate the arrival of pilgrims and goods.
For his part, H.E. the Iraqi Minister of Planning and Acting Minister of Commerce, Dr. Sulaiman Al-Jumaili, said that the first minutes of meeting of the Saudi-Iraqi Coordination Council was signed by both sides. Consequently, this Council will be the feedback and the reference for joint relations in all fields, whether political, economic, commercial, cultural or security.
H. E. pointed out that the Republic of Iraq and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia are very important countries in the region. Therefore, the more the joint relations witness stabilization and strength, the more the countries of the region would enjoy prosperity, security and welfare. H.E. pointed out that the Iraqi market is in need of the Saudi goods and products, also it does need the Saudi support in the field of investment or in the reconstruction and building activities.
H.E. revealed that during the meeting, it was agreed to form committees for all fields of cooperation, in order to follow up the relevant action plans. pointing out that the Kingdom has agreed to bear the costs of building the infrastructure of the two land ports of Jumaimah and Arar. This has been absolutely considered a new era of joint relations between the two countries, to serve the two brotherly peoples and to enhance the joint relations between them.
For his part, H.E. the Iraqi Foreign Minister, Ibrahim al-Jaafari, expressed his happiness and pleasure for the joint coordination between the Iraqi and Saudi sides, looking forward to raise the pace of the economy between the two countries, indicating that when the economic pace rises, it will be definitely reflected on the political and security relationship.
H. E. pointed out that the relationship between the two countries is interwinding, and they share a lot of common interests, stating that the Saudi economy would enrich the Iraqi economy, stressing that security must be devoted to serve the economy, and all obstacles must be overwhelmed to reap the fruits.
