AL-QASABI HEADS SAUDI DELEGATION TO G20 TIIWG IN INDONESIA

H.E. Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the General Authority for Foreign Trade, Dr. Majid Abdullah Al-Qasabi will head the Saudi Delegation to the G20 Meeting of the Trade, Investment and Industry Working Group (TIIWG) between 21-23 September 2022, due to be held in Bali, Indonesia. 

The ministers of G20 member states and states that received invitations will attend the summit in Indonesia on Thursday and discuss the G20's top priorities for World Trade Organization (WTO) changes, as well as the importance of supporting the multilateral trade system in order to accomplish the sustainable development goals.  

The attendees will emphasize trade, investment, and industry responses to the pandemic and the global health system restructuring, as well as methods to boost sustainable investment and promote global economic recovery. 

The summit will ensure that member states reap the benefits of digital trade and global value chains. The opportunities to enable digital transformations will be explored with a focus on ways to achieve comprehensive and sustainable manufacturing through Industry 4.0.

On the sidelines of the G20 meetings, Al-Qasabi will host a number of bilateral meetings in the Indonesian city of Bali. He will meet with his counterparts from the G20 nations, invited countries, and a number of government officials who will gather to discuss collaboration and partnership, forge relationships, and strengthen trade and investment ties.

During His Excellency’s visit to Jakarta, Indonesia, the Saudi-Indonesian Business Council will hold a meeting and a forum, with the participation of Saudi and Indonesian companies. The attendees will focus on promoting and developing trade and investment partnerships while taking advantage of the available opportunities to transform them into tangible results on the ground. 

This year, the Republic of Indonesia will host the G20 under the theme "Recover Together, Recover Stronger." The event comes at an important juncture when all countries are stepping up their efforts to meet the global challenges of building a strong and evolving global economy. It highlights the efforts of G20 Member States' Ministers in responding to trade and global supply chain disruption and restoring confidence in the global economy through supporting international trade and investment.
