The Ministry of Trade and Investment shout down a warehouse in Buraydah city under the violation of storing 100.000 electric outlets in non-conformity with the approved Saudi specifications and standards.
The quantities were confiscated before being distributed in the market, due to safety risk. The ministry summoned the owners to the headquarters for investigating and penalties.
The Ministry's inspection teams were implementing the scheduled tours on the warehouses and commercial establishments in the area, and that led to the disclosure of the warehouse. A sample of the seized quantities was tested in specialized laboratories and proved violated. Therefore suppliers were apprehended. The quantities included dual, triple and plugs and outlets of different sizes.
The Ministry of Trade and Investment has implemented inspection tours in various region of the kingdom which led to the confiscation large amounts of electrical items from non-conformity with the approved standards.
The ministry confirms it will continue the inspection tours on the warehouse and all the facilities to ensure their regular work, to safeguard the consumers' rights.
According to the system of commercial fraud, that displaying counterfeiting products is considered a violation of the Commercial Fraud system that might be penalized with 500.000 SR fine or imprisonment for two years or both.
The Ministry of Commerce and investment will continue its efforts to implement the law and urges the consumers to report any complaints to the customer call center on 1900, or through the smartphone application "commercial report."
