The Ministry of Commerce has blocked seven e-commerce stores owned by a Saudi company for violating the E-Commerce Law and its implementing regulations by deceiving customers and failing to uphold their contractual obligations.

The Ministry said the Department of E-Stores Control found out about the frequent violations during a routine inspection of these electronic retailers. The violating stores sell a wide range of products such as apparel, women's and children's accessories, furniture, and electronic devices. The stores have repeatedly breached the E-Commerce Law and its implementing regulations.

They broke the law by neglecting to notify customers of difficulties in delivering and fulfilling the orders and failing to implement customer requests to cancel purchase orders after the agreed-upon deadline had passed and refusing to refund money to some customers.

The infringing stores were referred to the committee in charge of investigating E-Commerce Law infractions, which imposes fines of up to one million riyals, as well as blocks and shuts down breaching sites, prohibits them from conducting business, and publishes the judgment for the public.
