MCI, Shoes Factory in Riyadh Forging the Country of Origin by Labels “Made in Italy"

​More than three thousand counterfeit shoes have been confiscated before being distributed in the local market
 
MCI inspectors have detected a factory for men`s Shoes, south of Riyadh, run by an Arab expatriate, who is forging the country of origin of the locally made shoes, through putting the label "Made in Italy", in addition to his involvement in counterfeiting famous brands in order to mislead and cheat the consumers. MCI inspectors monitored the existence of stamps, used for shoes forgery. The workshop had been shut down and those responsible were summoned for investigation and taking the legal procedures against them.
 
MCI inspectors confiscated 3,500 pedal shoes for men, more than 3 thousand shoes ready for marketing and selling in the local market, in addition to four thermal seals used for counterfeiting and forgery of the country of origin.
 
This came during intensive inspection campaigns, targeted factories and warehouses in Riyadh to track down the distributors of counterfeit goods, in cooperation and coordination with the joint security campaigns.
 
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Commerce and Industry had implemented inspection and control campaigns recently, resulted in seizing large quantities of counterfeit and adulterated consuming commodities. Those involved were summoned for investigation and   taking the legal procedures against them.
 
MCI emphasizes that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and counterfeiting and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
 
MCI calls on all the consumers to report their complaints and observations to the Notification Center in the ministry through the toll-free number 1900.
