The Ministry of Commerce and the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization (SASO), represented by National Metrology Program (TAQYEES), inspected 350 gas stations throughout the Kingdom to ensure their adherence to consumer protection regulations and commitment to selling fuel at the prices set by the Saudi Arabian Oil Company "Aramco" as announced in the monthly fuel price reviews across the Kingdom.
The Ministry and SASO have stated that their field inspectors would continue to conduct routine and follow-up visits to gas stations across the nation. Consumer complaints and concerns will be investigated expeditiously, and violators will be fined and penalized instantly on the spot.
The Ministry of Commerce monitors the activities of gas stations around the Kingdom in order to protect consumers, catch violators, and issue legal fines. The Anti-Commercial Fraud Law carries penalties of up to three years in prison and up to one million riyals in fines or both. Violators will be publicly named and shamed at their expense, while non-Saudi violators will be deported and barred from working in the Kingdom.
