The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has defamed a company in Baha specialized in importing, exporting, wholesale and retail of watches and perfumes. This is after the issuance of a verdict by the Criminal Court in Al-Baha stipulating that the said company found guilty of violating the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law by not placing a price tag that shows the price before and after the sales. This is considered a violation to the rules and conditions of sales, and it is a kind of misleading towards the consumers.

The Criminal Court has issued a ruling imposing a fine on the said company and the publication of the sentence in two local newspapers at the expense of the violator.

The details go back when MCI inspection teams were carrying out inspection tours on Baha markets, they found the said company guilty of violating the rules and conditions of sales. Accordingly, a violation notice was released and the case was referred to the judicial authorities for taking the necessary legal measures.

Notably, MCI has provided the service of issuing sales licenses electronically. This is part of Ministry’s concern and interest to verify the reality of sales and promotions, also to ensure the absence of manipulation or misleading towards the consumers and to eliminate all false offers.

MCI would like to confirm the continuation of addressing all violations related to Anti-Commercial Fraud Law by imposing the legal measures against the violators. This is to protect the consumers against any cheating or deception.

MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints and observations through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, or via the Ministry's website.
