MCI Detected a Warehouse for Storing Air Conditioners in Violation of the Energy Efficiency Card in Hafr Al Batin

11 Feb 2014

MCI had detected a warehouse in Hafr Al Batin storing large quantities of air conditioners non-conforming with the Standards and Specifications and in violation of the  Energy Efficiency Card. These units had been smuggled from the local market in order to avoid the inspection campaigns carried out by the Ministry in various regions of the Kingdom. The warehouse had been closed and the violating quantities had been confiscated and then to be destroyed. The owners had been summoned for investigation and taking the necessary legal procedures against them.

The MCI inspection teams had suspected one of the warehouses in the area and after the search and investigation, it turned out that a truck was loading more than 700 Air Conditioners (Split and window type) and moving towards the involved warehouse to be stored there away from the eyes of control. These units were immediately confiscated.

This comes as a continuation of the inspection rounds initiated by MCI on 01/01/2014 AD, and the deadline granted by the Ministry to the commercial establishments to disclose what they had stored in their warehouses of such units, and to give them the opportunity for re-exporting such units after that.

MCI confirms that it would not tolerate with the violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and counterfeiting, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.

MCI calls on all the consumers to report their complaints and observations to the Report Center in the Ministry on the phone No.800 124 1616.
