MCI carried out 23.000 Electronic Processes for Business Sector during Eid al-Fitr Holiday

​Within MCI efforts and endeavor to proceed in providing e-services to all beneficiaries during Eid Al Fitr holiday, the Ministry had provided 22,942 electronic services to clients in the business sector. These services included issuing 13.850 Certificates of Origin, also issuing, amending and renewing 3.700 Commercial Registrations, as well as reserving 3.450 Commercial Names for MCI applicants, in addition to examining 1174 trademarks, besides granting the institutions and commercial centers 768 promotion licenses.
 
On the other hand, the Ministry received 68 thousand calls during Eid al-Fitr Holiday, through the Consumer Call Center "1900", while MCI inspectors had treated 26 thousand complaints in various regions of the Kingdom. All these complaints had been addressed and legal measures had been taken in that regard.
 
During the same period, the Ministry's Consolidated Call Center for Business Services received 10,948 voice calls and 1.341 instant calls from business services clients, relevant to processing and following up CR requests, Commercial Names, Trademarks, Corporate Services and Certificate of Origin Services, as well as queries related to Business Services.
 
During Eid al-Fitr Holiday, the Ministry carried out 7,600 inspection tours on establishments, markets and commercial centers throughout the Kingdom, resulted in the seizure of more than 420,000 foodstuffs and consumables. Penalties and legal measures had been taken against the violators.
 
It is worth mentioning that the Ministry of Commerce and Investment had prepared a special working plan for Eid al-Fitr, including carrying out inspection tours on the shops and outlets selling Zakat al-Fitr, clothes, sweets and all items related to Ramadan and Eid Al Fitr, to verify their validity and to have full control on such items. In addition, MCI had intensified its control role on fuel stations, inside  and outside the cities, concurrently with the increasing of traffic and travelling by road, in order to verify the availability of fuel and the absence of manipulation in the fuel pumps and to ensure correct calibration, as well as to monitor any cases of commercial fraud, related to mixing gasoline with any other substances.
 
Meanwhile, the Ministry also carried out inspection tours to follow up the implementation of the Selective Tax Decree, on harmful goods and products in its first phase, in cooperation and coordination with the General Authority for Zakat and Income. A number of warehouses, intended to evade the tax by storing large quantities of soft drinks and tobacco products, were seized and the necessary legal measures had been taken.
