In conjunction with the issuance of the E-Commerce System, the E-Commerce Council is holding its fifth meeting on Wednesday, 10.07.2019, to coordinate the efforts, related to e-commerce, among the concerned parties, also to distribute the tasks and discuss the implementation plans.
This meeting will be chaired by His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Investment, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qassabi. It is worth mentioning that the E-Commerce Council has been approved and formed as per the Council of Ministers Decree, to contribute to the growth and strengthening of the e-commerce business, which is considered one of the strategic objectives of the National Transformation Program, leading to the realization of the Kingdom's Vision 2030, taking into consideration creating an attractive and stimulating environment for investors.
The E-Commerce Council has been established with the membership of 13 government agencies and 3 representatives from the private sector. This council aims at unifying the efforts and focusing on a number of issues, including the logistic services and the digital payment sysrem. In addition to facilitating the e-commerce business and enhance the reliability of its transactions, besides preserving the consumers' rights, as well as keeping up with the developments of the global e-commerce market.
The E-Commerce Council works to implement 39 different initiatives that contribute to the development of the e-commerce infrastructure, also to support its relevant regulations and legislations, as well as enhancing the payment systems, postal and logistic services, besides stimulating innovation in a number of fields and providing a package of services to support SMEs to access this business activity.
