Large Quantities of Harmful Cosmetics were Seized Bearing Misleading Medical Allegation
MCI had implemented intensive control campaigns on a number of shops and retail centers in Al Qassim, resulted in the seizure of 40 thousand corrupted, harmful and unfit foodstuffs and consuming items, where they had been confiscated and destroyed later on, with the completion of the legal procedures against those involved.
This comes as a continuation of the inspection rounds conducted by the Ministry through its branches in all regions of the Kingdom, to check the quality and safety of the offered materials, and to ensure that the health and safety of the consumers are not at risk, and to impose penalties against the violators.
The confiscated items Included: more than 13 thousand foodstuffs unfit for consumption, such as various types of canned food including cheese, honey jars, juices, milk for children, along with 6200 of apparels, consuming goods, grocery materials, and cosmetics bearing misleading medical allegations, in addition to 20 thousand of devices and electrical materials, and 458 cans of automotive engine oils unfit for use.
The MCI Control Campaign was implemented in: Buraidah , Onaizah , Al Rass, Al Bukaireya , Badaya`a, Al Muznab, Al Zulfi and Al Majma`ah.
MCI emphasizes that it will continue its Inspection Tours on warehouses, factories and commercial institutions to ensure their regular work, and the absence of fraud practices on consumers, and to stop exploiting the demand for purchase in selling and marketing counterfeit or adulterated goods.
MCI also stresses that it will not tolerate in applying the legal penalties against the violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and counterfeiting, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
