A Stationery Store is defamed by MCI for making Promotion without a License

04 Jun 2018
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has defamed the owner of a wholesale and retail stationery store in Riyadh. Those responsible violated the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law by announcing promotion without obtaining a license.

MCI has published the ruling issued by the Criminal Court in Riyadh, including a fine, and the publication of the sentence in two newspapers at the expense of the defendant.

Notably, the Ministry has provided the service of issuing promotion licenses for the commercial establishments online. This is part of the Ministry’s concern and interest to verify the reality of the sales and promotions and the absence of manipulation or deception against the consumers, besides eradicating all kinds of false offers.

Meanwhile, MCI is endeavoring to address any violations related to Anti-Commercial Fraud Law by taking stern measures and imposing the legal penalties on the violators, since their actions bear cheating and deception against the consumers.

MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints and observations through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900) or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report or via the Ministry's website.
