01 Jun 2016
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has announced that the intensive inspection tours would be continued to follow-up the availability of basic commodities in the local markets and trading shops, in various parts of the Kingdom, during the Holy Month of Ramadan. MCI inspectors will check the validity of such items, and necessary action would be taken against any factors that may affect the supply and demand. This comes within the Ministry's work plan, applied each year, during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

MCI confirmed that the inspection teams would do their best to check the commitment of placing the price tag on the items, and to verify that this price is matching the one at the cashier, in addition to monitoring the promotions offered by the markets and shops, especially during Ramadan, to ensure the absence of any fake offers or sales, as well as to take the necessary legal action against any violation, and to impose the proper penalties on violators.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Commerce and Investment has pointed out that the field proactive inspection tours, implemented recently on the markets, showed the availability of all goods and foodstuffs, needed by consumers during Ramadan, besides appropriate alternatives, for each item, are available as well, in addition to increased competition among the sale outlets.

MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints and observations through the toll free number (1900) or through the application of a commercial notification round the clock.
