Exports Development Authority launches its first activity by organizing the First Saudi Forum for Saudi Dates Exporters

In the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. TAWFIG FAWZAN ALRABIAH Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Export Development Authority, opened this evening, Wednesday, November 20, 2013 in the city of Istanbul, Turkey, the events of Saudi Dates Exporters Forum, which is organized by the Saudi Exports Development Authority in collaboration with the Saudi Commercial Attaché and the National  Center for palms and dates with the attendance of senior officials and businessmen in both countries .

The organization of this Forum comes within the Strategic Plan for the Saudi Exports Development Authority  to increase the exports of non-oil products and to give an idea to the Turkish companies about the import opportunities of Saudi products  through holding seminars and forums for defining and introducing these products, and to increase the capacity of Saudi products competitiveness and their access to the global markets, and to benefit from the strong support of the Government of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques  towards encouraging the Saudi industrial sectors in order to diversify the sources of the National Income to create a diverse economic base not just rely on a single commodity , but is based on encouraging all sectors and resources to the largest contribution of the National Output.

It is worth mentioning that the production volume of the dates in K.S.A. is more than one million ton per year, representing about 14% of the global production of dates. The Kingdom produces 360 kinds of dates, 20 kinds constitute about 70% of the total production.
