MCI Inspection Teams carried out more than 2,300 inspection tours on shops, gas stations, gold and jewelry stores in Makkah and Medina regions, and the highways leading to the two Holy Cities. During the inspection campaign, more than 300 counterfeit and expired products have been seized. This is within MCI plans and programs for the Holy Month of Ramadan, especially at Umrah season to Makkah and the visit to Medina.
The inspection tours, attended by a number of women inspectors, showed the quality, abundance and availability of goods, foodstuffs and supplies in the markets and shops located in the two central areas of the two Holy Mosques, also the shops located on the roads leading to the two Holy Mosques, as well as at the Ihram places.
Meanwhile, the Ministry continues to carry out its monitoring and inspection rounds during the Holy Month of Ramadan at Makkah and Medina, which aims to monitor the availability of goods, foodstuffs and supplies and to verify their validity, besides monitoring any cases of commercial fraud or price manipulation, also follow up the commitment of placing the price tags by shopping centers and stores, as well as to make sure that the prices placed on the items are matching the ones with the cashier, in addition to verify and check the reality of promotions and special offers, which are usually increased during the Holy Month of Ramadan, and to take the legal action against any violation, or effects on the offer and demand, more over to ensure the commitment of the shopping centers and stores with the Rules & Regulations, including the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, the Commercial Data System and the Trademark System.
MCI calls on all consumers to cooperate and lodge their complaints and observations through MCI Consumer Call Center "1900", or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, or via the Ministry's official website.
