MC inspection teams have carried out 703 inspection rounds (from 28 to 29 December 2020) to follow up the commitment of the commercial establishments, shopping centers and outlets to the precautionary and preventive measures for confronting Covid-19 Pandemic, and to ensure the safety of consumers.
The tours resulted in releasing 46 instant violation notices. Meanwhile, the necessary penalties had been imposed, based on the Precautionary & Preventive Regulations, relevant to Covid-19 Pandemic.
MC inspection tours included the Eastern Region, Riyadh, Al Jouf, Tabuk, Al Baha, Jazan, Qassim, Makkah, Hail, Najran, Madinah, Northern Borders and Asir.
The Ministry of Commerce confirms the continuation of following up the institutions’ commitment to the health requirements, which stipulate preventing the entry of those who don’t wear the masks, also ensuring the commitment to social distances, besides providing disinfectants and sterilizers in the necessary places, as well as taking the temperature of employees and customers at the entrances of the malls and commercial centers, in addition to disinfecting shopping trolleys and baskets after each use, and disinfecting all facilities and surfaces.
According to the regulations of violating the precautionary and preventive measures of Covid-19, failure to comply with such precautionary and preventive measures by the commercial establishments requires imposing a fine of 10,000 riyals, and the penalty will be doubled in case of repeating the violation, with the closure of the violating facility.
A fine of 5,000 riyals is also to be imposed on each person when there is a gathering of shoppers or workers inside or outside the commercial store, in excess of the numbers stipulated in the precautionary and preventive measures and their relevant regulations.
