As an extension of the efforts made by the Ministry of Commerce and Industry in controlling and detecting those involved in counterfeiting the goods, MCI inspection teams had raided warehouses for Sanitary Ware Company, involved in forging the country of origin for sanitary ware items, more than 27 thousand items manufactured in "China" had been forged by placing posters “Made in Germany" in purpose of cheating and deluding the consumers.
MCI pointed out that seizing such quantities had been done in close coordination among MCI branches in Riyadh, Eastern Region, Makkah, Qassim and Asir.
The confiscated items included water heaters, taps, cutters, elbows, sink mixers and others. The inspectors found out that the raided sites were lacking the commercial registrations and the official licensing. Consequently, the owner and those responsible were summoned by MCI for investigation and taking the legal procedures against them.
This comes within the ongoing inspection rounds carried out by MCI to ensure the absence of fraud and manipulation practices on the consumers, and to stop exploiting the demand for purchase in selling and marketing counterfeit or adulterated goods.
MCI stresses that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties against violators and those involved in the practice of fraud, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
