Labors were Forging the Expiration Date and Mixing the Corrupted Products with the Newly Made Ones
MCI Inspection Teams had closed a plant in violation of the health requirements in Riyadh, where foreign labors had been preparing and storing pickles in a very primitive way, through putting the pickles in rusty containers contaminated with insects and bacteria. The labors used to mix the pickles with other quantities that were about to expire, then they used to sell such items in the market. All the quantities had been confiscated since they were considered risky to the health of the consumers and those involved were summoned for investigate and taking the legal procedures against them.
The back details of the case were that, MCI had received a report about the above mentioned plant, then it was raided immediately with the participation of the joint security authorities. Quantities of Jordanian and Egyptian olives and pickles were mixed with what had been produced inside the plant. They put them in cans labeled with violated weight, not specified exactly. They put the phrase, Gross weight: (4-10 kg) and they forged the date of production.
The quantities that had been seized and confiscated Included: 1600 kg of rotten pickle, 500 barrels of pickle, weighing 100 kg, in addition to 360 cans of pickles, weighing 5 kg ready for sale.
This comes within the framework of intensive inspection campaigns carried out by the Ministry on the factories, warehouses and shops in all regions of the Kingdom, to ensure the quality of the stored materials, and those offered for sale, and to ensure the absence of any violation that may affect the health and safety of the consumer.
MCI emphasizes that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and counterfeiting and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
