MCI, Inspection Campaigns Reveal Corrupted Foodstuffs Offered for Sale in Baha

​Poor Storage in Shops, Due to Refrigeration Shutdown, was Monitored
 
MCI continued its Inspection Rounds on markets and shops in various parts of the Kingdom, resulted in the confiscation and destruction of 7 thousands expired foodstuffs, which had been offered for sale in Al Baha markets. These items included meat, cheese, pastries, juices and legumes, unfit for the human consumption and they were considered risky on the health and safety of consumers. MCI summoned those involved for investigation and applying the statutory penalties against them.
 
The Inspectors noted the refrigeration system was out of order, which was prepared for the preservation and storage of these foodstuffs. The seizures contained about 3 thousand kilograms of corrupted and rotten foodstuffs, as a result of poor storage, including 2000 kg of meat, more than 400 kg of pastries, in addition to more than 500 kg of cheese. All these items were confiscated in Trading Centers and shops in Baha.
 
MCI stresses that it would not tolerate in applying the statutory penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and manipulation, and those marketing rotten and expired commodities, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
 
MCI emphasizes that it will continue its Inspection Rounds on markets, warehouses and shops, to verify their regular work, and the absence of fraud and manipulation practices on consumers and to stop exploiting the demand for purchase in selling and marketing any corrupted products.
 
MCI calls on all the consumers to report their complaints and observations to the Notification Center in the Ministry through the toll-free number 1900.
