MCI Inspections, Seized 20 Thousand Cheated And Faked Consumer Goods Riyadh

Included Large Quantities of Fake Watches and Detergents for Famous Brands
 
MCI inspectors seized twenty thousand fake and adulterated consuming commodities, stored in warehouses and shops in Riyadh, included counterfeit watches for famous brands, besides varieties of shampoo and anonymous detergents, prepared and packaged in primitive ways. Famous brands were forged and placed on the cover in order to cheat and mislead the consumers. The owners were summoned by MCI for investigation and taking the legal penalties against them.

This came after MCI had carried out intensive inspection campaigns targeted more than 20 warehouses and 12 random rest houses, as well as a number of traditional houses in Riyadh, including the quarters of Al Batha, Shefa, Al Marqab, Al Seilay and Al Manakh, in cooperation and coordination with the joint security campaigns.

A shop and a warehouse, storing and selling counterfeit watches, were shut down in Al Batha by MCI. More than four thousand counterfeit watches, “Casio” brand, and 1.200 “Rolex”, “Mont Blanc” and others, were seized by MCI inspectors.

MCI inspectors had seized also more than 5 thousands anonymous counterfeit Shampoo packets, bearing the brands of "Bert Plus” and “Pantene", in addition to more than 3 thousands bottles of hand soap liquid, and 1400 fake chlorine detergent, lacking the health requirements, filled in a primitive way by labors, who placed posters of famous brands in order to be distributed and sold in the markets. The offending warehouse was shut down in Al Batha and all the quantities in violation were confiscated.

Meanwhile, MCI had shut down a warehouse in Al Seilay quarter, used as a plant for filling adulterated detergents in a very primitive ways, contrary to the health requirements, and the items do not bear any trade data. More than 2,500 packets, ready to be sold, were seized, in addition to 4,500 empty packaging, and 9 thousand fake posters. Samples were taken to be tested, and to verify how far do they comply with the approved standard specifications.

MCI inspectors monitored as well detergents plant in Al Seilay quarter. During the inspection, they noticed large quantities of the detergent “Flash” bearing the clause “Made in U.S.A.”, in addition to other counterfeit detergents for famous brands. More than 1800 Flash bottles were seized, in addition to 6 thousand empty ones, also 6 thousand posters labeled "Clorox" without any trade data.
 
Within MCI inspection campaign, a warehouse in Al Shifa quarter was shut down as well, used to store counterfeit bags and leather items. More than 600 counterfeit different size bags, bearing the brand of "Delsey" were seized.

MCI would like to emphasize that it will continue its inspection rounds on warehouses, and all commercial institutions, to verify their regular works, and to ensure the absence of fraud and manipulation practices on consumers, and to stop exploiting the demand for purchase in selling and marketing counterfeit and adulterated products.

MCI stresses that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
