MCI inspection teams monitored a warehouse south Riyadh used by Asian illegal labors practicing commercial fraud, counterfeiting and forging products. About 30 thousand counterfeit products were seized including toner, printers, posters, mobile chargers and others. Consequently, the said warehouse and a selling outlet were immediately shut down.
MCI inspectors, with the support of the joint security forces, detected the illegal labors filling the fake toner cartridges and packing them in cartons bearing international brands for misleading and deceiving the consumers by claiming that they are original.
The inspectors also seized counterfeit laptop batteries packed in cartons bearing American and Japanese famous brands. The following counterfeit and fake items were seized as well: three thermal packaging machines, used in commercial fraud, two air blowing machines, 500 tools used in processing the counterfeit toner, 42 bags of toner weighing 20 kg, 5000 empty toner cartons and 6000 packaging bags bearing international brand, 2000 counterfeit toner ready for distribution, 1800 empty printing folders, 10400 stickers for international famous companies, 3000 toner I.D. list, in addition to 850 fake computer batteries.
Meanwhile, MCI inspectors handed over the illegal labors to the security authorities and summoned the owner of the Establishment to the Ministry branch to complete the formal procedures and to refer the case to the Public Prosecution. All the Counterfeit and fake items and tools, used in commercial fraud, were also confiscated.
MCI would like to confirm the continuation of its inspection and control rounds on warehouses and commercial institutions, to verify their regular work and to eradicate any sub-standard products. MCI will not hesitate to impose legal penalties on offenders and those involved in fraud and counterfeiting.
