MCI, Confiscation of 25 thousands Counterfeit Computer Chargers for famous Brands in a warehouse in Riyadh

MCI Inspection Teams closed a warehouse in Dar Al Baydah area South of Riyadh falsifying the country of origin for the counterfeit computer chargers by replacing the label with another one bearing trademarks for famous international brands. The Inspection Teams had detected a group of labors discharging the poorly made chargers which were imported from China and then they re- packed them in new cartons bearing misleading statements in order to be marketed and sold to the consumers as original. Those involved were summoned for investigation and taking the legal procedures against them.

The confiscated items Included: more than 25 thousands computer chargers, 45 thousand  labels of counterfeit trademarks, 120 packets of  Internet cables,  brand " City Max " 305 meters long per carton, in addition to 10 thousand envelopes bearing misleading marketing phrases.

During the raid with the participation of the joint security authority, the Inspection Teams noticed that the labors were exploiting some famous trademarks for cheating the consumers. They put labels on the counterfeit computer chargers bearing the brands of " Toshiba " , " LG " ,  " Sony " , " ASUS " , " Acer " , " HP ". 

This comes within the framework of the ongoing Inspection Rounds implemented by MCI on warehouses, factories and shops to ensure their regular work, and the absence of fraud  practices on the consumers, and to stop exploiting the demand for purchase in selling and marketing of any adulterated or counterfeit goods.

MCI emphasizes that it will not tolerance in imposing the legal penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.

MCI calls on all the consumers to report their complaints and observations to the Report Center in the Ministry on the phone No.1900.
