The Ministry of Commerce's inspection teams closed down two warehouses in Riyadh and Jeddah that stored non-standard lighting products.

The teams investigated and monitored the sites before raiding them and confiscating over two million non-compliant lighting products with forged energy efficiency labels.

Previously, inspectors raided and seized a warehouse in Riyadh run by violators of residency and labor laws. Workers were caught red-handed producing lighting products that did not meet specifications or standards. They also used bogus energy efficiency labels to mislead consumers about the quality of the product.

During the inspection, another warehouse for the same purpose was being propped up in Jeddah by a group of violators. Inspectors in Jeddah acted quickly and raided the location in collaboration with security officers. The quantities were seized, the facility owners were arraigned, and the violators were referred to the relevant authorities, who will initiate legal proceedings against them in accordance with the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law.

The Ministry of Commerce reiterates its commitment to taking legal actions against violators of the Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, which carries penalties of up to three years in prison, fines of up to one million riyals or both, defamation of violators at their own expense, and deportation from the Kingdom.

It also encourages all consumers to report violators using the "Commercial Violation" application or the Toll-free number at 1900.
