As the first Ministry to launch it
The Minister of Trade and Investment, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Qasabi launched on Tuesday the Toastmasters Club at the ministry's headquarters in Riyadh, in the presence of the President of Toastmasters sector in the Kingdom, Dr. Suleiman Al-Madhi.
Dr. Al-Qasabi confirmed that the club's inauguration comes within the ministry's plan to develop the internal work environment, communication and leadership skills among its employees and enhance their capabilities, also to open the way for them to benefit from the development of competent international institutions such as Toastmasters.
Dr. Al-Qasabi also pointed out that the club would develop the capacity of staff to learn the order of ideas, arts of active listening, quick thinking, and the developing the usage of body language.
During the inauguration, Dr. Suleiman president of Toastmasters sector in the Kingdom said "the Ministry of Trade and Investment is the first ministry in the Saudi Arabia that launches Toastmasters Club, and this is a positive and encouraging step of the ministry to develop its employees' skills in the areas of communication, leadership, and enhance self-confidence."
He added: "The club will provide a lot of services to the employees in the ministry in an interactive environment, where the best services available to its members, to develop their personal skills and enhance their self-confidence."
The Toastmasters organization is the world's leading communications and leadership skills organizations, and that aims to develop the leadership and oratorical skills of its members, helping them to learn the arts of listening, thinking, and promote self-confidence. The organization was founded in 1932 by opening its first club in the United States, and currently active in more than 142 countries and has a membership of nearly 345 thousand members.
It is worth mentioning that the number of Toastmasters clubs in all cities of the kingdom more than 300 clubs. One of the most significant achievements made by Toastmasters clubs in Saudi Arabia is Mohammed al-Qahtani winning the world championship of Speech and raise the flag of Saudi Arabia in international forums for obtaining the degree of excellence in educational programs and growth, performance, and sophistication.
