During MCI inspection campaign at Al Deira markets in Riyadh, Thursday evening, the inspection teams have shut down 20 shops and warehouses due to violations related to commercial fraud and commercial concealment, also 65 shops were detected under the suspicion of commercial concealment, in addition to some warehouses found containing raw materials, non-conforming to standard specification, for making perfumes.
The Ministry has mobilized all the inspection teams in Riyadh, supported by the security forces to carry out the inspection and control campaign on Al Deira Markets, namely: (Souk Al Zell, Al Mu’akliyah, Thumairi St.). This is to ensure the absence of violations and the commitment with the Rules & Regulations, specially those related to Anti-Fraud Law, the Trade Data System and the Trademark System, in addition to ensure the absence of any violation related to Anti-Commercial Concealment Law and the Precious Metals and Gems System. The inspection tours included gold and jewelry shops, men's clothing stores, perfume and watches shops and others.
This inspection tours come within MCI plan to monitor the markets and outlets in different regions of the Kingdom, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan. These tours target the availability of commodities used in Ramadan with the verification of their validity, besides ensuring the availability of basic and consuming goods and their alternatives, verifying as well their validity, also to monitor any cases of commercial fraud or price manipulation, besides following-up the commitment of shopping centers and stores with placing the price tags on the items, ensuring as well that the price of the commodity is matching the one with the cashier, in addition to verifying the reality of sales and promotions that usually accompany this Holy Month, and to take legal action against any violation, or against any effects on the supply and demand, and to ensure the commitment of shopping centers and stores with the regulations, including Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, Trade Data System and Trademark System.
Meanwhile, the inspection and control tours carried out by the Ministry early this month of Ramadan resulted in the inspection of 6419 shops, the seizure of 2669 consuming items, also issuing 460 violation notices to the stores in violation, as well as those responsible are summoned by MCI for taking the necessary legal measures against them.
MCI calls on all consumers to cooperate and to lodge their complaints through MCI Consumer Call Center "1900", or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report or via the Ministry website.
