MCI inspection teams tour the illumination factories in various regions of the Kingdom

The Ministry of Commerce and Investment has implemented supervisory tours on illumination factories in cooperation with the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality and the Ministry of Energy and Industry and Mineral Resources, to verify the factories commitment to the Saudi specifications and standards, which resulted in withdrawing and sizing plenty of materials and samples.

This tour is a collaboration effort of several government agencies (Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Energy and Industry and Mineral Resources, the Saudi Standards Metrology and Quality, Saudi customs and the Center for Energy Efficiency) operating as one to fulfill the objectives of the Saudi program for energy efficiency, which aims to find a mechanism that will ensure controlling and compiling to the Saudi specifications.

11 factories of illumination were included in the tour, and many samples have been sent to the laboratories for tests which resulted in sizing more than 1000 products not complying with the Saudi standers and specifications.

The Saudi program for energy efficiency aims to meet the challenges facing the Kingdom to rationalize the rise and accelerate of power consumption.
