MCI Inspectors Carried out 2670 Inspection Tours on Jewelry & Gold Shops in Various Regions of the Kingdom, 128 violations detected during a week

MCI Inspection Teams carried out 2670 inspection tours on gold & jewelry shops in different regions of the Kingdom last week. 128 violations had been recorded, related to invoices, lack of licenses, no commitment of using proper scales and others.
 
The Inspection Tour Report shows the violations in details as follows: 63 violations related to invoices and price tags for not including detailed data on the prices in Arabic, 32 violations related to the absence of any billing data, (17) violations for not using scales during the sale of jewelry and gemstones, 11 violations for  lack of license to practice the activity, 2 violations for not stamping the gold offered for sale, 2 violations for the abstention of giving invoices to customers, one violation for non-stamping jewelry according to their proper karats.
 
MCI would like to confirm its on-going inspection tours on the shops and markets to eradicate any cases of fraud and manipulation, pointing out that the regulations stipulated a number of penalties against fraud in jewelry  and gemstones, where imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years and a fine not exceeding 400 thousand riyals or by either of them can be imposed on those who practice cheating or deception in the type, quality, karat, weight or calibration of jewelry, gold, gemstones, or coated items with gold.
 
MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900) or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, via their smart phones.
