MCI, the Standing Committee for Consumer Protection Inaugurates the Consolidated Communication Center for Consumer Complaints “Bainah” (935)

The Standing Committee for Consumer Protection, headed by H.E. Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi, Minister of Commerce and Investment, has inaugurated the Consolidated Communication Center for Consumer Complaints (Bainah), toll free No. 935. This is during the meeting of the Joint Operations Room of the Control bodies, held on Thursday 8 Ramadan 1439H corresponding to 24 May 2018 in Riyadh.

“Bainah” is a Consolidated Communication Center for the parties directly related to the consumer’s affairs. This Center has been established by the Standing Committee for Consumer Protection, pursuant to the decision of the Council of Ministers No. 167 dated 24/3 / 1439H, aiming at receiving the consumer complaints and following up the process of treatment and solution of such complaints and the assessment of the performance of all concerned parties. All that for the realization of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and for enhancing the roles of the competent authorities concerned of protecting and preserving the consumers’ rights.

“Bainah” Center aims to facilitate the consumer’s enquiries, complaints and reports through a unified number, regardless of the differences of the competence of each government authority, also to preserve the consumer’s rights in all sectors related to the consumer’s affairs, as well as to reduce the overlap of competencies among the government agencies, in addition to following up the performance of the government authorities in terms of addressing the consumer’s complaints and reports, besides achieving the integration of efforts among the government agencies relevant to the consumer protection, more over evaluating and measuring the consumer’s  satisfaction and how far the concerned parties respond to him.

Through “Bainah” Center, it is possible to record the consumers’ complaints via a unified communications system, then to be referred to the concerned parties with the necessary following up on the status of the complaint, then to ensure that the complaint or the problem is solved and processed within a specified period, also recording all the enquiries and replies related to the consumer. The following phases will witness several developments including launching “Bainah” application on smart devices.

“Bainah” Center is currently receiving the consumer’s reports and complaints round the clock, seven days a week through the Consolidated Communications Center (935), also through the Center's account on Twitter @Bainah_sa

Notably, the Cabinet’s decree stated that the Standing Committee for Consumer Protection to be headed by H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Investment, and a Vice President from the Deputy Ministry of Commerce and Investment for Consumer protection, also members from 12 governmental authorities, namely: the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, the Ministry of Health, the General Authority for Tourism & National Heritage, the Saudi Standard, Metrology and Quality Organization, the Saudi Food and Drug Authority, the General Authority of Customs, the Commission of Communications and Information Technology, the Saudi Arabian Monetary Agency, the General Authority for Civil Aviation and a representative of the Consumer Protection Committee.
