MCI Inspection Teams carried out 3198 tours on electrical appliances shops in various parts of the Kingdom, in cooperation with the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, and the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency, to ensure commitment of placing Energy Efficiency Labels on electrical appliances, such as air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators and freezers. The inspection tours resulted in detecting a range of products in violation.

This inspection campaign comes within the efforts rendered by several government authorities, operating as one team in the Saudi Program for Energy Efficiency, aiming at preserving the power and raising the energy efficiency, in cooperation with the Ministry of Commerce and Investment, the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, Saudi Customs and the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency.

The inspection tours resulted in detecting  "95" violations in various shops, and "239" items were seized, due to the lack of placing the Energy Efficiency Label,  or its presence is unclear to the consumer, also placing the label in the wrong place, besides using the old labels.

It is worth mentioning that the Energy Efficiency Label is of great importance, as it aims to make the consumer aware when buying electrical appliances, and it does give him a reliable way to compare between the electrical appliances, according to their efficiency, based on electrical consumption, before purchasing them, so that to help the consumer choose the best device and the least in consuming electricity.
