The Ministry of Commerce Announced that it has achieved a Significant Progress in the World Index for the Kingdom’s Business Environment and Competitiveness

​Over the past five years, the Trade System has been endeavoring and exerting all efforts to develop and improve the business and investment environment and to facilitate the start of business, through integrated partnerships with more than 50 government agencies, and through an active partnership with the private sector. This is to enhance the Kingdom’s global competitiveness and to achieve a significant progress in the World’s Index, so that to become among the ten most competitive countries in the world by 2030.


The Kingdom has achieved a quality leap in the World Index for Ease of Work 2020, issued by the World Bank Group, jumping 103 ranks, from 141st in 2019 to 38th in 2020.

The Kingdom also ranked first in the World Index for Business Environment Reforms. This is among 190 countries competing in the Ease of Work Report for 2020, issued by the World Bank.

The Kingdom was also ranked among the best countries in the World Index for supporting and enabling the entrepreneurship, as per the Global Observatory Report for 2019.

The Kingdom has advanced 3 ranks in the Global Competitiveness Index in 2019, to rank 36 among 141 countries.

The Kingdom has achieved the only progress in the Middle East in the IMD 2020 Competitiveness Yearbook Report, reaching the 24th rank among 63 most competitive countries in the world.

In the field of E-Commerce, the Kingdom ranked among the top 10 countries in the United Nations E-Commerce Index.

In terms of empowering women, the Kingdom is the most reformed and progressive country in the world, according to the Women in Business and Law 2020 Report.
