“The Challenges Facing the Islamic Nation Requires Maximizing the Role of COMCEC”

H.E. The Minister of Commerce and Investment, head of the Saudi delegation participating in the meetings of the 33rd  Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the OIC (COMCEC), stressed that the challenges facing the Islamic Nation require maximizing the role of the COMCEC. H.E. stressed the importance of the topic of this session “Improving the Trans-Border Corridors among the OIC Member States”. Actually, this is a vital issue, and we look forward to the outcome of the discussions and debates that will take place during this session, and we hope that practical initiatives would be adopted that may benefit the Member States.

During H.E. speech, the Minister pointed out that the main objectives of the COMCEC include addressing the economic challenges facing the Islamic Nation, besides contributing to the development of member states, also promoting and disseminating knowledge, as well as sharing expertise and best practices, in addition to sharing mutual concepts and having consolidated policies among Member States. H.E. said among these major economic challenges facing the Islamic Nation, emerges the role of COMCEC as one of the most important committees specialized in the field of economic and trade cooperation between Member States.

H.E. Dr. Al-Qasabi added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has started the implementation of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, which is based on three pillars: Arab and Islamic Depth, Investment Power and the Kingdom’s Strategic & Geographical Location. This Vision aims at promoting the regional and international integration, as well as strengthening the relations with the GCC and Arab countries, besides having strong relations with Islamic and friendly countries. This emerges from the importance of future planning for ensuring prosperity and welfare for the coming generations.

His Majesty the Turkish President, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has kicked off the 33rd  Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), held in Istanbul, Turkey, during the period 02-05, 03, 1439H, corresponding to 20-23, 11, 2017 AD. This meeting aims to discuss a number of economic issues, related to OIC Member States.
