H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Investment Heads the Kingdom’s Delegation for the "COMCEC" Meetings

This Session will Discuss Improving Transport Corridors and Enhancing Intra-OIC Trade
 
The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will participate at the 33rd Session of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC), held in Istanbul, Turkey, from 2 to 5 Rabi Al Awal 1439H, corresponding to 20-23 November 2017. The Saudi delegation is headed by His Excellency, the Minister of Commerce and Investment, Dr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Qasabi. This session will discuss a number of economic topics relevant to OIC Member States.

The agenda of the 33rd Session of the COMCEC will discuss the improvement of trans-border transport corridors between OIC member states. It will discuss also the global economic developments, as well as the promotion of the volume of intra-OIC trade, besides enhancing the role of the private sector in the economic cooperation, in addition to developing transport and tourism sector. This session would focus on increasing the productivity of the agricultural sector, besides the sustainability of food security and alleviating poverty.

It is worth mentioning that the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (COMCEC) was established during the 3rd Islamic Summit in Makkah in 1981, where it started its work effectively. The President of the Republic of Turkey was chosen as the Chairman of the COMCEC at the Fourth Islamic Summit in 1984. The COMCEC membership includes 57 member states. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia holds the position of Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee for Economic and Commercial Cooperation among Islamic Countries.
