Destroying and Recycling 70,000 Lighting Fixtures Non-Conforming to Standard Specifications, as announced by MCI

A working group from the Ministry of Commerce and Investment has destroyed and recycled (69815) lighting fixtures for non-conforming with the Saudi standard specifications, in cooperation with the General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection, the Saudi Standard, Metrology and Quality Organization and the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency. 

This action comes within the framework of the efforts exerted by several governmental authorities, working as one group within the Saudi Program for Energy Efficiency, which is focusing on finding a mechanism to ensure the monitoring and compliance with the specified specifications and initiatives launched by this program, in order to rationalize and raise the efficiency of energy consumption. This mechanism is implemented by a working group including the Ministry of Commerce and Investment, the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, the Saudi Standard, Metrology and Quality Organization, Saudi Customs and the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency.

Meanwhile, (22,443) violating lighting fixtures had been destroyed and recycled, in addition to (47372) packages for incorrect data on the Energy Efficiency Label. This process had been carried out by one of the qualified companies with great concern and care to apply all the safe standards in accordance with the conditions and criteria set by the General Authority for Meteorology and Environmental Protection.
