MCI inspection teams carried out inspection tours covering various regions of the Kingdom on the appliance outlets, including (air conditioners, washing machines, refrigerators and freezers) to ensure compliance with the Saudi Standard specifications for Energy Efficiency Label.

MCI inspection teams carried out 3135 tours on electrical appliance outlets, during which 85 violations were detected, including the absence of placing the Energy Efficiency Label on the product or the existence of the old card but it is unclear for the consumer, as well as placing the label in the wrong place, besides non-compliance of the product to the Saudi Standard Specifications.

These inspections rounds come as part of an extensive effort rendered by several government agencies, working as one team under the Saudi Program for Energy Efficiency, which is keen to find a mechanism to ensure compliance with the standard specifications of the initiatives that had already been launched, in order to rationalize and raise the efficiency of energy consumption. This program is implemented by a working team including the Ministry of Commerce and Investment, the Ministry of Energy, Industry and Mineral Resources, the Saudi Standard, Metrology and Quality Organization, the Saudi Customs Authority and the Saudi Energy Efficiency Center.
