H.E. Dr. Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al Rabiah, Minister of Commerce and Industry headed the Saudi delegation participating in the ninth Ministerial Conference on World Trade Organization (WTO) held in Doha during the period 26-27 Muharram 1436 AH, which is organized by Arab States League in cooperation with the World Trade Organization, and hosted by the State of Qatar .
Where the results of the last Ministerial Conference of WTO will be reviewed, which was held in Bali, Indonesia last year, and the content of Bali Declaration and the Ministerial Resolutions issued in the conference on some of Doha topics.
The conference will also highlight the possibility of applying the WTO rules on oil, gas, petroleum products and energy services sector as part of the Services Agreement. The conference will also address the contribution to increasing the benefit of Arab countries from the Global Trading System, as an implementation to the recommendations of the Eighth Arab Conference on the future inclinations of WTO, which was held in Cairo in 2012 AD, and how to benefit from the experiences of some Arab countries, which have made progress by applying the trade agreements, focusing as well on how to exercise rights in accordance with the provisions of WTO conventions.
The conference will also address the effects of the results of the Ministerial Conference, which was held in Bali, on the Arab states, and to consult about post-Bali negotiation topics, and the future of Doha negotiations including topics of concern to Arab states.
It is worth mentioning that a number of Ministers have participated in this conference, including H.E. the Minister of Commerce, Industry, Finance and Economy, and a number of leaders responsible for the global and regional trade files in the government agencies, and non-governmental organizations, in addition to a number of businessmen, experts and those who are interested in world trade.
