With the holy month being around the corner, the Ministry of Commerce affirmed that local markets and food retailers have adequate supplies of food and Ramadan products, including essential and consumer commodities in high demand.
The Ministry emphasized that inspectors will keep up their diligent work in accordance with the Ramadan Plan 1444 H, making proactive visits to marketplaces and storage facilities across the Kingdom to keep an eye on supply and demand and also identify any issues that may disrupt the flow of supply and demand. The inspectors are ready to address any potential increase in demand while ensuring the availability of multiple vendors of goods and products and taking regular action against violations of consumer protection laws.
During Ramadan and the Umrah seasons, the Ministry intensifies its monitoring efforts as inspectors make sure markets offer essential foodstuffs for consumers and monitor prices, stock levels and product security.
The commitment of supermarkets and stores to display price tags on merchandise and match prices with cash registers will be monitored. Also, cases of fraud and misleading promotional deals, which are prevalent at the beginning of the holy month, will be cracked down.
