MCI, Detecting an Expat Selling Violating Gold Crafts in Arar

MCI Inspection Teams have detected an expat of Arab Nationality selling gold crafts, not bearing the stamp or trademark of the importer or manufacturer, in the Gold Market in Arar, Northern Region. 

The seizures included more than 3,800 pieces of gold, weighing 26 kg, documents have been seized as well proving his transactions of selling and distribution.

Samples of the seizures were sent for examination in specialized laboratories to check the quality and calibration. Meanwhile, MCI summoned all the involved parties for further investigations, then the case to be referred to the Public Prosecution and after that to the Settlement Committee for taking the legal measures against the violators in accordance with the Precious Metals and Gemstone Law.
 
The Ministry of Commerce and Investment warns all manufacturers and importers of precious metals not to enable any foreigner to distribute precious metals or gemstones, and not to buy or sell gold crafts, not bearing the calibration stamp or the trademark.

MCI calls on all citizens and residents in all regions of the Kingdom to report such cases through MCI Consumer Call Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report, or via the Ministry's website. Notably, MCI is granting an award of 30% of the total fines imposed, after collection. The fine may reach one million riyals against each violator.
