 Two MCI Inspectors have been Honored by H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Industry for Refusing to Accept a Bribe Related to Commercial Fraud Issues

Illegal Labors were Detected Marketing Counterfeit and Fake Commodities in Riyadh
 
H.E. the Minister of Commerce and Industry Dr. Tawfiq Bin Fawzan Al Rabiah has honored two MCI inspectors, who refused to take a bribe in exchange of dismissing commercial fraud issues, as detected in Riyadh. Two MCI law enforcement officers were honored by granting them an award of three month salaries in recognition of their excellence in performing their works and duties with honesty and sincerity.

MCI has carried out inspection campaigns on sites, exploited for storing corrupted and counterfeit goods by illegal labors, where an Asian expatriate proved to coordinate with foreign factories, involved in fraud and counterfeiting, that send him counterfeit items, then comes his turn to repack and deliver them to retailers, using various CR for importing purposes, it was proved as well that the said expatriate is responsible for transferring money to the foreign factories.

After the necessary investigation and follow-up, done by MCI inspectors, they were able to buy some items from the expatriate, and then they traced the site and detected all the counterfeit items, at that time, the convict offered some money as a bribe in exchange of dismissing the case, then the instruction was followed immediately in such cases, by contacting and coordinating with the Administrative Detectives, who were able to arrest the convict while handing over the bribe.

In the same context and during the inspection rounds in Batha quarter, south of Riyadh, MCI inspectors detected some labors inside an apartment, storing counterfeit and adulterated smart phones, and putting famous brands on them, such as   "Samsung" and "Apple", to be sold and mislead the consumers. After the seizure and confiscation, the head of labors offered some money as a bribe in exchange of dismissing the case, the same procedures had been followed and the convict was arrested while handing over the bribe.

MCI emphasizes that it will not tolerate in imposing the legal penalties against the violators and those involved in fraud and counterfeiting, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
