The Ministry of Commerce announced the results of evaluating e-commerce stores, where the evaluation in its first phase covered the most prominent 100 e-commerce stores.
The evaluation aims to raise the level of compliance of e-commerce stores, preserve and protect the rights of consumers, and enable the enhancement of services provided by the stores to shoppers.
The evaluation included ten fundamental criteria concerned with the general requirements of e-commerce, namely: documenting the e-commerce store on the Saudi Business Center platform; the availability of a policy for exchange, return, and refund on the store; the availability of a policy of consumer rights and obligations regarding shipping and delivery on the store; and the availability of a policy for handling customer complaints and suggestions on the store.
The criteria also included the availability of a consumer data protection and privacy policy on the store; documenting the link of the e-commerce store in the commercial registration; displaying the tax number and all required licenses on the homepage of the store; displaying the commercial registration number and all required licenses on the homepage of the store.
The criteria further included the availability of a “Contact Us” icon in a clear location on the e-commerce store, and the presence of a secure and high-quality website in terms of site speed, ease of use, and having an https link with cybersecurity protection.
It is worth mentioning that work is currently underway to evaluate a group of e-commerce stores, which will be included among the stores announced in the second phase.
