18 Jul 2017
During a raid on a warehouse in Al-Sharafiya Quarter in Jeddah, MCI Inspection Teams seized (6126) counterfeit toner cartridges, in violation of the trademark system.

The Ministry of Commerce and Investment pointed out that the inspectors monitored the labors at the warehouse refilling and forging the trademarks of the toner cartridges. Therefore, (5415) counterfeit and expired toner cartridges, bearing famous trademarks, were seized, beside confiscating (430) posters giving description about the products, as well as (281) empty bags bearing a famous brand.

MCI Inspection Teams immediately shut down the warehouse after suspecting a case of commercial concealment, while the owner of the warehouse was summoned by the Ministry’s branch for taking the necessary legal procedures against him.

This comes as part of the Ministry’s inspection tours on warehouses and all commercial establishments to verify their regular work and to eradicate any counterfeit or substandard products in the markets, also to protect the consumers against any risks and to take all the legal measures against the violators.

MCI would like to emphasize that it will not hesitate to impose the legal penalties on violators and those involved in the practice of fraud and counterfeiting, and calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints through MCI Consumer Center (1900), or through the application of a Commercial Violation Report via their smartphones.
