National Program for Combating the Commercial Concealment Cracks Down on Illicit Practices in Jeddah's Automotive Tire and Oil Sector

18 May 2023

The National Program for Combating the Commercial Concealment remains steadfast in conducting its inspection tours, diligently ensuring that commercial establishments adhere to the market regulations. Its primary focus is to tackle any infractions or illicit activities associated with the Anti-Concealment Law within the automotive tire and oil trading sector in Jeddah province. These comprehensive tours are strategically driven by indicators and suspicious indicators that hint at potential concealment practices.

The Ministry of Commerce, the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Development, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs, and the Ministry of Housing, represented by the Municipality of Jeddah, together with the Zakat, Tax, and Customs Authority, participated in the inspection campaign.

The campaign yielded fruitful outcomes as 13 commercial establishments underwent thorough inspections. Violators were subsequently referred to the appropriate authorities for scrutiny and the enforcement of legal penalties, once their culpability was established. The penalties under the Anti-Concealment Law encompass potential imprisonment for up to five years, hefty financial fines amounting to five million Saudi Riyals, and the confiscation of illicit funds upon the issuance of final judicial verdicts against the implicated individuals.

The repercussions of these legal penalties encompass business closure, activity dissolution, commercial registration revocation, the prohibition from conducting any commercial activities, the obligation to settle Zakat, duties, and taxes, as well as the deportation of individuals engaged in concealment practices, and not allowing them to return to the Kingdom for work.
