MCI Closed a Plant in Jeddah for Adulterating Al Osrah Mattresses, the Brand and Origin were Counterfeited

​MCI Confiscated more than 1,600 Mattresses and Publications for Famous Brands
 
MCI Closed a violating plant run by immigrant labors for  re- manufacturing old, damaged and used mattresses through re- furbishing, re- packaging and labeling them to falsify the country of origin and to adulterate the consumers through imitating   world famous brands. More than 1600 mattresses under renewing had been confiscated, it had been found out as well that the plant did not have any  official licenses and there is no sign board on the external walls and it was located within one of the courtyards in Alqozin district South of Jeddah.
 
The Control Field Teams had raided the plant and detected the labors, where a number of them  escaped. The equipment and tools used for refurbishing and printing of famous brands like ( Sleep High ) were confiscated, along with printing  medical advice for marketing purposes, such as (Medical Mattress ) to mislead the consumers that these items are new and of high quality and specification.
 
The confiscated items included: more than 795 pieces of Al Osrah Mattress, 700 old and damaged mattresses, more than 95 renewed and refurbished mattress, in addition to 4 compressors, 2 sewing machines, 5 fans, 5 staplers and welding machine.
 
MCI Inspection Teams confiscated as well large numbers of bags used for packaging the mattresses and some publications bearing different brands. The owner and the labors were summoned for investigation and taking the legal procedures against them.
 
MCI confirms that it will continue its inspection rounds on warehouses, factories and commercial establishments to ensure their regular work and the absence of fraud practices on consumers, and to ensure that there is no exploitation in selling and marketing of any adulterated or counterfeit goods.
 
MCI also stresses that it will not tolerate with the violators and those involved in the practice of fraud, and all that put the health and safety of consumers at risk.
 
The Ministry calls on all the consumers to report their complaints and observations to the Report Center in the Ministry on the phone No. 800 124 1616.
