MCI inspection teams have carried out a proactive campaign to monitor and control household electric heating devices shops, and to verify the conformity of the offered devices to the Saudi standard specifications. Also to ensure that no fake or counterfeit devices are offered for sale, since they pose risk on the consumers.
MCI inspection teams have intensified their tours in various regions of the Kingdom before the winter season. Therefore, the inspectors have carried out 3728 inspection tours, resulted in the seizure of 872 non-conforming devices and imposing fine and penalties on 92 establishments.
The Ministry is doing great efforts to control the non-conforming devices to the approved Saudi standard specification, because they pose risks on the users. Therefore, according to Anti-Commercial Fraud Law, offering or selling any product contrary to the said law, will lead to a fine of one million riyals or imprisonment for a period not exceeding two years or both, also making defamation against the offenders in the local newspapers.
MCI would like to urge all consumers to ensure that the household heaters contain the data label and the price tag. Taking into consideration that the voltage should be 220 volts and the capacity does not exceed 2500 watts. The establishment should grant the buyer a two-year warranty, besides verifying that there is no differences or misleading between the written data on the carton and the one on the heater itself. The manual or instructions to be written in Arabic as well
The Ministry also recommends buying the heater, which provides more protection, such as switching off button in the event of falling, also protection against children hands entry, besides a minimum of two-year warranty and buying from a reliable Est.
MCI calls on all consumers to lodge their complaints and report against any non-conforming heating devices because they pose risk to the safety of users.
