Al-Qasabi meets US Secretary of Commerce in DC and discuss ways to enhance economic partnership

Al-Qasabi leads a Saudi delegation that holds joint meetings to foster innovation, 
develop projects and enhance bilateral trade 

Dr. Majid Abdullah Al-Qasabi, the Minister of Commerce, met with Gina M. Raimondo, the US Secretary of Commerce, recently in Washington to discuss ways to strengthen economic and trade ties between the two friendly nations.
 

The meeting was attended by Her Royal Highness Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan, the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to the US.

Al-Qasabi, who is leading a Saudi delegation visiting the United States, pointed out that the talks are part of the two countries' desire to accelerate bilateral coordination in accordance with a joint action plan that increases trade exchange opportunities in a variety of promising economic sectors, primarily:  building a green economy, empowering women to do business, developing small and medium enterprises, and encouraging innovation.

Dr. Al-Qasabi met with Professor Jennifer Hillman, President of the World Trade Academy, and a number of university officials at Georgetown University, in the presence of Her Highness the Ambassador and Deputy Minister of Commerce and CEO of the National Competitiveness Center, Dr. Eman bint Habbas Al-Mutairi.

During the meeting, they discussed the academy's experience as well as other newly established programs such as the "Center for Inclusive Trade and Development," besides opportunities for collaboration.

The Minister's schedule included a meeting with Rita Jo Lewis, President of the Export-Import Bank of America, in which he and Her Princess discussed bolstering the Saudi-American economic partnership with Lewis.  

The delegation met with a number of US government officials at the US Department of Commerce's headquarters to institutionalize and strengthen government communication between the two sides at all levels, The meeting also aimed to review the most prominent reforms implemented to boost the Kingdom's competitiveness.

The Saudi delegation and their American counterpart explored bilateral collaboration and promising opportunities in hydrogen production, and waste and water management. Both sides encouraged innovation through intellectual property rights protection, with emphasis on promoting a knowledge-based economy focused on artificial intelligence, cloud storage, data flow, SME development, and the role of women and their participation in economic development.

The delegation included Dr. Saad Othman Al-Qasabi, Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology, and Quality Organization, and Dr. Abdulaziz Mohammed Al-Swailem, CEO of the Saudi Authority for Intellectual Property.

The delegation included leaders from the Ministry of Energy, the Ministry of Environment, Water, and Agriculture, the Ministry of Investment, the Small and Medium Enterprises General Authority (Monshaat), the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (Sedaya), the General Authority for Foreign Trade, the National Competitiveness Center, the Saudi Aramco, and the Saudi Investment Recycling Company (SIRC).
